Resumen
Blood and body fluids may contain blood-borne viruses or bacterial or viral pathogens. These can present a risk to both patients and staff. It is not possible to know who is infected with these pathogens. Universal precautions, ie standard infection control precautions which are taken with all patients at all times, should help to prevent the risk of infection to patients and staff. To use universal precautions effectively, staff must be educated in risk assessment and the level! of precautions necessary. (Resumen extraído del artículo)
